This month, one of our dedicated runners, Rupert, is taking on the incredible challenge of the TCS London Marathon. Rupert is running in honour of his little sister, Grace, who passed away five years ago after a brave six-week battle with leukaemia. She was just thirteen years old.

Grace was a special and vibrant child, born with Down’s Syndrome, who lived her life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories with those who adored her. Throughout her battle with leukaemia, she received outstanding care and support from the incredible team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Now, five years on from her passing, Rupert feels it is time to give back and help ensure that other families facing similar heartbreak have access to the best possible treatments and support.

Every single day, four children are diagnosed with blood cancer. The need for improved treatment options and access to cutting-edge research has never been more urgent. That’s where the ATICUS Network comes in—a groundbreaking initiative designed to revolutionise clinical trial access for children with blood cancer. For the first time, children across the UK will have the opportunity to participate in national clinical trials, potentially giving them access to life-saving and innovative treatments.

Rupert and the CL London Marathon team have set an ambitious but vital goal, to raise £50,000. This funding will go towards supporting a research nurse for an entire year.

We invite everyone to get behind Rupert and his team as they take on this incredible challenge. Every step he runs is a tribute to Grace’s memory, a testament to her strength, and a beacon of hope for families affected by childhood blood cancer. Let’s stand together and make a difference—because no family should have to endure the pain Rupert’s has faced alone.
