The journey from the UK to Singapore (nearly 6,700 miles), from Hong Kong (over 6,000 miles), and finally to Paris for the marathon is a powerful representation of how Cure Leukaemia has a global impact. Three dedicated runners from Hong Kong and Singapore will travel thousands of miles to Paris in April 2025, raising vital funds and showing how blood cancer affects people worldwide.

With a new blood cancer diagnosis every 27 seconds worldwide, the need for accessible clinical trials and new treatments has never been greater. While Cure Leukaemia funds research nurses in the UK, its impact is far-reaching, driving research advancements that benefit patients globally.

Meet Our Three Runners:

🏃‍♀️ Shannon (Singapore)

“I’ve never run a marathon before, but I’m training hard in the Singapore humidity to reach my goal. Leukaemia is close to my heart, as my husband has chronic leukaemia. I couldn’t think of a better way to combine achieving a personal goal with supporting the fantastic research and health services that help leukaemia sufferers.”

🏃‍♂️ Horacio (Hong Kong)

“Preparing for the Paris Marathon in support of Cure Leukaemia has become deeply personal to me. Blood cancer runs in my family, and I’ve seen firsthand the battles it brings—not just for the patients but for their families too. Having faced these challenges, I know how critical support and life-saving research are in helping others through their journey. I will be traveling over 6,000 miles from Hong Kong to Paris, and every step of those 42.2 kilometers will be for them!” ❤️

🏃‍♂️ Paul (Hong Kong)

“My motivation comes from my mother’s journey with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a pre-leukaemic condition. Over a decade ago, she had a life-saving bone marrow transplant, which put her in full remission. Last year, at age 70, she faced a relapse, but she overcame it thanks to donor leukocyte infusion therapy. These advancements in medical science and the dedication of haematologists inspired me to run and support those affected by blood cancers.”
