Later this week, Matt Greenaway, along with 7 other Team CL runners, will be putting on their pink jerseys and heading to London to take on the iconic London Marathon to raise vital funds for Cure Leukaemia.
Matt will be running a grand total of 26.2 miles in total, and Matt and the rest of the Team CL runners will be taken past some of Londons iconic landmarks.
Team CL have currently raised just over £20,000, and Matt Greenaway is just under £2,000.
Having previously raised money for Cure Leukaemia, Matt decided to push himself to take on the London Marathon as the next step.
He decided to raise funds for Cure Leukaemia, as back in 2017, his then girlfriend (now wife) was diagnosed with Leukaemia and has thankfully made a full recovery now.
With just 3 days to go, we spoke to Matt about how he’s feeling about the run, and how he’s been preparing.
“I’m looking forward to the marathon – very glad that the long training runs are over, and keen to get stuck into the event.
Although I’m a bit apprehensive as it’s a long way – I just need to perfect my playlist and I’ll be all good.”
The training for the London Marathon is long and requires a lot of hard work to be able to take on the London Marathon, a total of 26.2 miles!
“My training has gone pretty well, in total I’ve already run the equivalent of 10 marathons!
I’ve consistently managed 3 runs a week and maxed out at 22 miles so I’m feeling hopeful that I’ll achieve my personal target of 4 hours.”
Matt shared with us a photo after one of his long training runs, enjoying a well deserved sit down!
Matt also spoke to us about how he’s feeling about the day, and how his personal motivation to raising funds for Cure Leukaemia will help him towards the end.
“I’m guessing it’s going to get pretty tough towards the last few miles so looking forward to having my supporters there and the motivation of the money raised for CL to get me over the finish line.”
