
Told I Had 12 Days to Live – Tracy’s Battle with AML
Tracy was told she had 12 days to live without chemo. After a tough battle with AML, a stem cell transplant that saved her life. Now in remission, she shares her journey to raise awareness.
Solihull Moors Chairman Darryl Eales will be participating in the London Marathon on April 27, 2025, to raise vital funds for Cure Leukaemia, a long-standing partner of the club.
Cure Leukaemia has plays a key role in supporting blood cancer patients across the UK, and the charity’s logo proudly features on the back of Solihull Moors’ home and away jerseys as part of a fundraising commitment to support research nurses and life-saving treatments.
Darryl Eales spoke about his motivation for taking on the London Marathon, saying:
“Over the past couple of years I have gotten to know James (McLaughlin) and the Cure Leukaemia team personally, and to witness the incredible work they do.”
“It’s a privilege to support their amazing work and I hope to raise a significant amount to help this fantastic cause.”
Cure Leukaemia Chief Executive James McLaughlin expressed his gratitude for Eales’ commitment, emphasising how vital such fundraising efforts are in helping the charity continue its mission.
The Solihull Moors chairman has had a personal connection to the Blood Cancer illness when a family friend’s daughter was diagnosed with Leukaemia. Fortunately, she was able to battle her way through the illness thanks to her incredible bravery and the wonderful medical intervention by Professor Charlie Craddock and his team, where she was able to recover and live a full and rewarding life.

Darryl forms part of the Cure Leukaemia London Marathon team aiming to raise £50,000, which will fund a Research Nurse for a year to continue running clinical trials to discover new treatments and give hope to blood cancer patients across the UK.
