The world-famous TCS London Marathon will see over 4,500 runners take to the streets of London on 21st April 2024 to tackle the incredible 26.2-mile challenge, taking the runners past some of London’s more iconic landmarks.

With just over 7 months to go, Cure Leukaemia are thrilled to announce that a team of 10 runners from across the UK will be turning London pink as they take on the iconic marathon, each with a personal fundraising target of raising £2,500 for the charity.

Lara Newell, London

“I am doing this for all that can’t.
We take our health and ability to run for granted when it is such a privilege. Helping raise money and awareness to enable more to keep doing what they love is my motivation.”

Daniel Darian, Leicester

“I am running for Cure Leukaemia on behalf of Siemens Healthineers.
I have people close to me in my life living with leukaemia and supporting research and treatments, particularly early-stage research for chronic leukaemia prevention in later life, is something I am proud to support.”

Tony Hobday, Warwickshire

“My reason for taking part is that I have seen first-hand the great impact charities such as cure leukaemia can have on people. A friend of mines daughter has unfortunately been affected by leukaemia for a large part of her childhood. I am excited to be able to fulfil my dream of running the London marathon whilst also raising money for such a great cause.

Training for the marathon was going well before I came on holiday but will resume on Monday!
I look forward to seeing the whole team announced in blood cancer awareness month.”

Graham Jones, London

“I was introduced to Cure Leukaemia in 2022 when my girlfriend took part and completed The Tour 21, cycling all 21 stages of the Tour de France.

As well as supporting her on that amazing journey, I had the opportunity to learn about the incredible work that the Cure Leukaemia team have done and continue to do. The advancement of the treatment has been remarkable and helped save so many lives.
The energy and commitment of the Cure Leukaemia team and all those associated was something I so wanted to contribute towards and the opportunity to be part of the London marathon team was one I couldn’t pass up.
It’s going to be a big challenge for me as running has never really been my thing but supporting Cure Leukaemia is the best reason to change that!”

Billy Lumsden, West Yorkshire

“This will be my third marathon, and I am desperately wanting to break the sub four hour barrier, as my two previous times have been over this mark.
I enjoy pushing myself and doing so while raising money for a truly worthy cause in Cure Leukaemia, helping to raise vital funds for blood cancer patients across the UK.”

Nicole Perry, London

“A charity that was already close to my heart, is now part of my life and I see the charity as my family after completing The Tour 21 in ‘22!”

Marc Webb, Midlands

It has always been an ambition of mine to complete the London Marathon, and there is no better way to run for the amazing Cure Leukaemia, helping to rise money and awareness along the way.

Darryl Eales, Warwickshire

“Over the past 6 months, I have gotten to know first-hand James and the CL team and to witness the amazing work they do.

It’s a privilege to be developing the partnership between Solihull Moors and CL – and, of course, to having a at the London Marathon when I really should be old enough to give more sense – but the cause is wonderful, and I hope I can raise a significant amount to help.”

Sam Fletcher

“My mum is currently battling Leukaemia and it’s thanks to all the great work charities such as yourself do, that she is able to get the best possible treatment to put it into remission.

I recently took part in the booths 175km cycle (2022) event last year and raised over £2000 for Cure Leukaemia, so I would love to take on another challenge to help raise more money for a great cause.”
