It’s not every day that a Jacob’s Cream Cracker, a T-Rex and Big Ben run past you on the road, is it? It can only be the return of the TCS London Marathon!
With only six months having passed since the previous edition of the event back in October, our team of nine inspiring Cure Leukaemia runners joined a field of 50,000 other eager runners in London.
The team had to battle the elements for the opening miles of the event with the rain lashing down as they set off from Greenwich, with their eyes firmly set on The Mall later that day – and some warm, dry clothing!
The streets were lined along the entire 26.2 mile course to keep our runners motivated with a carnival-like atmosphere throughout the day.
Each runner had their own unique reasons for running the London Marathon with Cure Leukaemia close to the hearts of all of them.

Running in his first London Marathon, David Rushton completed the course in 4:47:15 and loved the experience of the day.
“Yesterday was something else. The nerves and wet weather, soon make way to an electric atmosphere from start to finish. The last six miles running on dead legs is tough but knowing I was helping raise funds for such a great charity spurred me on. I arrived nervous but curious and left with empty legs and a full heart. What a day!”
It wasn’t Booths Supermarket’s Kerry Dewhirst’s first marathon this weekend, but it was her first time in London and she was blown away by the day, finishing in 4:24:29.
“I was lucky enough to get a last minute place in the London Marathon with Cure Leukaemia- the day was so much more amazing than I expected. The crowds were amazing. I have done 4 other marathons and never experienced anything like today. Absolutely awesome.”We would like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of them for their amazing achievements on the day.
