Supporters of Cure Leukaemia are being encouraged to enjoy a ‘world class’ performance of Les Misérables – and donate to the charity at the same time – at Birmingham Hippodrome next April.
The Hippodrome has generously agreed to host a special night for the #CLFamily on Thursday, April 4th, with a fixed rate ticket price of £62 including red carpet entrance to the theatre, a welcome drink on arrival, an ice cream and a donation to Cure Leukaemia.
Tickets are still available, and might prove to be that ideal Christmas present, as the hugely popular Birmingham Hippodrome hosts one of the most recognisable and celebrated musicals of all time.
Ex England, Crystal Palace and Wolves footballer, blood cancer survivor and Cure Leukaemia Patron Geoff Thomas has already secured his tickets and can’t wait for the performance.
Geoff, one of many former patients to have booked their tickets already, said:
“This will be the eighth time I’ve watched this fantastic show but perhaps this will be the most special knowing that so many members of the Cure Leukaemia family will be together in the theatre that night.
“I’d urge people to snap their tickets up as soon as possible because not only will you be supporting a very special, life-saving charity, you will also be guaranteed a memorable night!”
Head of Partnerships and Events at Birmingham Hippodrome Judith Greenburgh said:
“We are always very pleased to support fantastic causes and are delighted to be working with Cure Leukaemia to bring a fantastic night of world-class entertainment to the Hippodrome.
“People will be able to come along and enjoy the performance whilst also supporting this amazing charity, which directly benefits blood cancer patients and is based right here in Birmingham.
“There are a number of patients and their families already coming and I am sure it is going to be a memorable occasion.”
Among those patients, and one of the first to book tickets for her and her Mum Jane, was Lizzie Dean, who has undergone gruelling treatment since being diagnosed with leukaemia four years ago, and was placed on a world-first clinical trial funded by Cure Leukaemia.
Lizzie said:
“This should be a great night, and is one of the events I have on my calendar to really look forward to, as having plans in place is something that has become very important to me since being diagnosed.
“I have seen Les Misérables at the cinema, but never on stage, and have heard it is absolutely amazing.”
Stephanie Price, whose 14-year-old son Harry is battling leukaemia, has also booked her tickets to continue her support for Cure Leukaemia.
“I have never seen Les Misérables before but thought this was a great opportunity to do it, whilst also supporting my favourite charity in the process,” she said.
“It will be fantastic to have so many people connected with Cure Leukaemia in the audience on the night.”
After nearly a decade since the last sell-out UK tour, Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed production has been hailed as: ‘Les Mis for the 21st century.’
The magnificent score, including songs such as ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, ‘On My Own’, ‘Bring Him Home’, and ‘One Day More’ underpins a musical which has been seen by over 120 million people worldwide in 45 countries.
Cure Leukaemia’s Head of Corporate Partnerships Jackie Kelly added:
“We are delighted to have been given this wonderful opportunity by the Hippodrome which will not only be great fun, but also raise vital funds for specialist research nurse positions at the Centre for Clinical Haematology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
“We are immensely grateful to Judith and all at the Hippodrome, further strengthening the great relationship we have with the theatre which has been forged over many years.”
