An opportunity not to be missed...!

Have you never run a half marathon before? Have you never really been a runner? Cannot believe you can be prepared to run 13.1miles in 8 weeks? Well…

Cure Leukaemia is offering a first time runner the opportunity to have ten weeks free personal training to get them ready to take on the Great Birmingham Run on October 16th 2016.

You will receive expert guidance from personal trainer and athletics coach Simon King who coached current English Junior Cross Country Champion Ellis Cross.

Simon believes he can prepare anyone, regardless of your level of experience or fitness, to take on the Great Birmingham Run in just 8 weeks. He will provide detailed training plans and weekly one-to-one sessions to make sure you are ready to take part. Cure Leukaemia will enter you for the race FREE of charge but the winner must agree to raise a minimum of £299 in sponsorship.

The winner will be picked at random on Wednesday August 17th and will be contacted during that day.

The winner will receive:

  • Free entry to the Great Birmingham Run on Sunday 16th October 2016.
  • Will receive a tailored training programme to suit the individual’s needs.
  • A weekly one-to-one session in Birmingham.
  • Nutritional advice to fuel the body for maximum performance and recovery.
  • Continued support from Simon on a daily basis regarding the programme and the progression of the individual athlete.

Terms and conditions

All applicants must:

  • Be 18 or over
  • Sign a training declaration form agreeing to take part
  • Be first time runners and have never run a half marathon before
  • Have free time or be able to make time in order to follow a detailed training programme around your lifestyle. Due to the short period we have before race day, the more free time you have the easier it will be for your body to recover and adapt as quickly as possible. We do not expect you to run all the way around non-stop.
  • Submit applications by midnight Tuesday August 16th 2016
  • Be able to attend weekly training sessions at 22 George Street, Birmingham, B15 1PJ
  • Have permission to take part in this challenge by their GP
  • Cure Leukaemia & Simon King reserve the right to reject applications if they feel the training plan could be dangerous to that person’s health or wellbeing.
  • Commit to raising a minimum of £299 for Cure Leukaemia
  • Be free to take part in the Great Birmingham Run on Sunday October 16th
  • Commit to taking part in this challenge that will involve weekly training sessions and an extensive training schedule.
  • Be happy for Cure Leukaemia to share their story via social media and the local press.
  • Be willing to contribute a regular video diary detailing their training progress.
