CEO of the Binding Site set to run for Cure Leukaemia

24th September 2014

Charles de Rohan, the Chief Executive of our official charity partners at The Binding Site is gearing up to run for Cure Leukaemia and The University of Birmingham in the Bupa Great Birmingham Run on October 19th.

He joins 25 other employees from the company who will take to the streets of the Second City next month to raise funds and awareness for the charity. The Binding Site has been raising funds for Cure Leukaemia since November 2013 with many staff members taking part in various challenges such the Color Run, the Great Midlands Fun Run, Three Peaks Challenge and other fundraising activities.

Charles has said this will be his first (and quite probably the last) participation in the race and is already close to raising £1000 on his Just Giving page, a figure that will be worth £10,000 in potentially life-saving drug treatments for leukaemia patients battling the disease in the region.

He said, “I am very proud to be a part of The Binding Site’s team of runners in this year’s Bupa Great Birmingham Run. We are running for a fantastic charity in Cure Leukaemia and I know every penny we raise will directly help patients battling this terrible disease.

All our staff at The Binding Site have been committed to raising funds for the charity throughout the year and I’m looking forward to taking to the streets to play my part in such a great Birmingham event.

As far as the half-marathon is concerned, this is most likely a “one-time only” opportunity to sponsor me, so I hope I can help raise as many funds as possible!”

James McLaughlin the Chief Executive of Cure Leukaemia said,

“The Binding Site has been a great support to Cure Leukaemia throughout the year and it’s great to see Charles leading the way in the Bupa Great Birmingham Run.

Our aim is to beat our fundraising total of £125,000 from the 2013 event and with the fundraising from Charles, The Binding Site and all our wonderful runners I’m sure we can achieve that goal.”

To sign up and run for Cure Leukaemia and the University of Birmingham in the Bupa Great Birmingham Run email Cure Leukaemia will pay for your registration fee, provide you with training tips, a branded running shirt and an invitation to the biggest post-race party at Walkabout Birmingham - all in return for a minimum sponsorship of £350.
