DES employees complete Pier to Pier Challenge

25th August 2014

Employees from DES Electrical Contractors, Wilden Services and Blackpool NHS completed their charity cycle from Clevedon Pier, Bristol to Southend on Sea Pier raising money for Cure Leukaemia!

The five cyclists; Sean Egan, Brian Powell, Ian Brough, Matt Fife & Graham Forrester completed the challenge in 3 days, from Friday 22nd August 2014 to Sunday 24th August 2014. The journey started at Clevedon pier and took the riders through Gloustershire-Wiltshire-Oxfordshire-Buckinghamshire-Hertfordshire & Essex to finish at Southend on Sea.

DES have been kindly sponsored by a number of their business colleagues and friends to help raise funds for Cure Leukaemia. The charity is one that is close to everyone’s hearts at DES where one of their long serving employees was recently diagnosed with leukaemia and this has brought home the challenges Cure Leukaemia face first-hand.

The team set themselves a target of £3,000 and are well on their way to achieving the figure that would be worth over £30,000 in potentially life-saving drugs. If you would like to support DES on their challenge, you can make a donation by visiting their Virgin Money Giving page HERE.

240 miles were clocked up in total and approximately 8,000 feet of climbing, we would like to say a huge well done to the team on a fantastic effort and also thanks to their support vehicle driver Mark – they could not have achieved the ride without you!
