Live, loud & lots of fun!

Ok, so here was the plan. Amazingly talented live musicians, a room full of quiz enthusiasts looking to have a great time, fabulous surroundings, delectable food, and a few drinks. Sounds like a fun night? Oh, it really was!

Cure Leukaemia hosted it’s first ever live music quiz at Malmaison, Birmingham in April, with the amazing support of the hugely talented Elegant Entertainment.  We know that many of us love a good old quiz, but how about putting a different spin on it? How about getting the West Midland’s premier entertainment group to do it all live?!

Ten quiz rounds, including live mash ups of songs, a Diva’s round, a proper rock round (air guitar yeah!) and missing lyrics were just some of the rounds the 150 strong quizzers had to battle through to be crowned the Ultimate Champion.

Phones were banned, one off Joker cards were available to buy on the night to guarantee double points in your favourite round, and dancing and singing along were most definitely encouraged!  The air guitar was also on full show, particularly with the BBC table!

And let’s not pretend that it wasn’t competitive! When it comes to quizzes, Brummies are renowned for their competitive spirit and it certainly showed on the night!  KPMG up against the BBC,  No. 5 Chambers talking the talk with Hotel Du Vin, and Elonex laying down the gauntlet to The Vox.

The grand finale saw a number of esteemed guests dressing up and singing along to YMCA, just like a normal Thursday night in Birmingham….and yes of course we have video footage!

The winners of the first live music quiz were KPMG, and they were delighted to show their trophy around the offices the next morning!

Am pretty sure that no one who was there will ever listen to Roxanne in the same way again…you know what I mean!

Alongside all the fun and games, an amazing £4,000 was raised for Cure Leukaemia, which will be put towards the £1 million pound total needed for the Centre Expansion Appeal.

So, when’s the next one?!  Keep checking back for updates, and make sure you keep your diary free as I have a feeling, (in the words of the Black Eyed Peas) It’s going to be a good good night.
