In 2014, Cure Leukaemia secured a partnership with Brindleyplace which, in turn, meant working closely with Deutsche Bank's staff for the Brindleyplace Dragon Boat Race. The event was such a success that Cure Leukaemia has been supported by the event for a further two years with the prospect of a further two years working with Deutsche Bank on the event. Over £150,000 has been raised from the three events so far largely thanks to the efforts of the Deutsche Bank staff.
Paul Anderson the Managing Director of Deutsche Bank Birmingham said: “Our events with James and the team at CL have set the benchmark against which we judge other proposals. Firstly, the cause is undeniably great (it seems we all know someone that Charlie and the team have helped) and their work is putting Birmingham on the map as a global centre of excellence. Secondly, we know our financial investment is leveraged via the connectivity with other stakeholders in the city and the way that Charlie engages with the pharmaceutical companies. Thirdly, and in some ways most importantly, the team put on very professional inclusive events which give opportunities for large numbers of staff and their families to get involved via volunteering and participating.”
